SINGLES NIGHT
Hi everyone. How are you? It seems an age since we last spoke. How long does it have to be between gigs before we can call it a comeback?
I’m delighted to say that we have news for you. On Monday 28 May your Winter Olympics will be releasing a BRAND NEW SINGLE (our first for our friends at Freakscene Records) called I Prefer The Early Stuff.
Released on download and (yes) Oyster Card ‘Early Stuff’ is taken from the patiently-awaited album Profit and Loss which ’drops’ on Monday 1 October and will be available on vinyl/cd/download and (of course) as a book. The song, and this probably goes without saying, is about girls and bands. Who has time to think about anything else?
To celebrate the release we will be throwing a COMPLETELY FREE killer party at The Wheelbarrow in Camden on Wednesday 30 May. We’re playing live with your soon-to-be new favourite band Muncie Girls. After the bands DJ Massive Disappointment from Art Brut will be letting us down gently on the wheels of steel; hot pies and jagerbombs are punishingly cheap all night. Oh yes. And it’s FREE!

SINGLE DETAILS
I Prefer The Early Stuff is released on 28 May 2012 on Freakscene Records. You will be able to get it on iTunes, eMusic, Amazon and from our website. We will be reminding you about this. The single will also be available on limited edition Oyster card with extra special features from the Church of Merch and at the Wheelbarrow show.
There are two versions of the song. A kiddie-friendly no swearing radio edit, and a Kidderminster-friendly fruity version. Both were recorded behind the Tesco and at (the other) Abbey Road, Croydon by producer Paul of Sound. They were mastered by ‘deadly’ Doug Shearer at The Pierce Rooms in Hammersmith. Doug’s previous credits include Venom, Jamelia and the Fall. That’s pretty much what the record’s supposed to sound like.
