NEW ADVENTURES IN RADIO
If you’d told me last week that I’d spend Wednesday afternoon talking about tapes on Slovakian radio, well, I just wouldn’t have believed you. But that’s how things panned out when I got a call from the amazing Nika at Radio_FM in Bratislava. We can’t thank the station enough for all the support they’ve showed us in the last few days, hammering I Miss the Nineties in the run-up to its release on Monday, and then letting us loose on the airwaves to talk about the record, the band and, less convincingly, the footballer Martin Skrtel. Special thanks must go to Nika herself for being so nice that she didn’t even call me out on the brand-new West Midlands/Central European/Shteeve McLaren accent I accidentally adopted in a subliminal/doomed attempt to make people like me more. We’re currently trying to find some promoters to take us out to Slovakia for some shows (get in touch) so we can repay the station properly. Until then, can we just suggest you set your dials right here.
Fans of my chameleon-like big box of world accents would be well advised to keep an ear out this week. On Wednesday morning (about 7.30AM UK time) I’ll be on the ARA City Radio Breakfast show in Luxembourg with the lovely Tara James, and on Monday I’ll be whipping out my Chertsey twang on Andy G’s ‘Afternoon Delight’ show on Radio Wey. Excited? You betcha!
