SINGLE LADIES AND RADIO FREE EUROPE

We already seem to have been banging on about it for longer than the decade it documents, but on Monday 14 March I Miss the Nineties finally sees the light of day. We will remind you about this nearer the time (oh we will remind you about it) but come that Monday morning you will be able to buy ‘Nineties’ and the previously unreleased, and frankly brilliant, This is the Fourth Time (I Have Been in Your House) from iTunes, eMusic, Amazon, The Church of Merch and (very possibly) some proper actual high street shops as well.

The single is available on download, limited hand numbered cd and (oh yes) cassingle. All three formats come with beautiful full-colour artwork by the fabulous Lottie White.

The cassette also comes with a free download card, in case you were wondering how you were going to play a tape on your computer. Look how beautiful they are:

Some people have managed to hear the record already and have been saying nice things about it.

Over at LoudHorizon magazine they’re shouting:

The great victory here for The Winter Olympics is that they prove they can do menacing rock without eschewing the epic choruses… 9/10

Meanwhile at the appropriately titled Rhythm and Booze there’s this:

The Winter Olympics blend and fuck up a plethora of influences and genres to create one of the most infectious sounds known to man… 9/10

Good news too from the world of websites with Tuna based puns in their names. Over at Tuna the Day we were ‘Catch of the Day’ thanks to our tasty sounding cocktail of:

A touch of LCD Soundsytem mixed with a dash of Blur

While at the ever-magnificent The Devil Has the Best Tuna there was this:

With their nostalgic tribute to the last decade of the twentieth century ‘I Miss The Nineties’ London based hard pop squad The Winter Olympics have put in their bid to be Gritpop’s Pulp to Brother’s Oasis

Thank you all for your kind words. We’ll turn those into pints for you if you can make it down to our COMPLETELY FREE party for the Nineties single launch, on Wednesday 16 March at The Wheelbarrow in Camden. And that goes for all of you who haven’t finished your review writing homework yet, too…

Now, those reviews would be easily the best thing to happen to us most weeks. But then, most weeks we don’t get playlisted on Slovakian national radio. I’ll leave you tonight with a big ahojte to our great new friends over at Radio FM Slovakia. Seriously, check out how good the music they play is. Once we’ve got this gig out of the way we’re moving.
