SPRING BREAK 2011 - YOUTH GONE WILD!

Your Winter Olympics have been dragging their big box of tapes around the country. Things have been getting pretty wild: pasties, napping, funny colored drinks, more napping, maybe singing a song or too… Check us out. And then join us at The Social in London on Tuesday 3 May and The Hatchet in Bristol on Friday the 20th for more of the same. Go on, it’ll be amazing…

VISA GOOD

Hi everyone, how are you?

Did you manage to get your applications off for Olympics tickets the other night? I hope so. I know how much you love the rhythmic gymnastics, and you’ve been banging on about the archery all year.

Seeing as how you’re in an Olympic frame of mind, I thought I’d let you know that we’re opening the application process for three WINTER Olympics rock events in the coming weeks. Just like the 2012 games we promise blood, sweat, tears and a stirring anthem or two. Unlike the 2012 games, you won’t need to mortgage your Nan or get a brand new VISA card to get a glimpse of the action. Oh and there DEFINITELY won’t be any rubbish-looking merch mascots leeching you for even more money. No way. Here are the all important details:

FRIDAY 29 APRIL - THE CELLAR, OXFORD (8pm - 11pm)
No invitation for the Royal Wedding? Come to this Royal Rumble instead. We’re celebrating the release of the amazing new Alphabet Backwards EP with an epic underground evening-do in the home of Morse and Swervedriver. Proper royalty those two. Admission is £5  and we’re on early.

TUESDAY 3 MAY - THE SOCIAL, LONDON (7pm - Midnight)
Do you remember when we played the Panda Power night at at the Social last year? Of course you do, There was hot music, attractive young people and tasty cakes. It was beyond amazing. Which is why next Tuesday, NEXT TUESDAY! we’re going back as part of the City Showcase festival to relive the magic. There are hundreds of hot young bands on with us, but don’t let that put you off, there will also be free muffins. Admission is £2 before 8pm, or all night with a City Showcase wristband (subject to venue capacity). Come down early and bring a friend.

FRIDAY 20 MAY - THE HATCHET, BRISTOL (8pm - 2am)
I’M NOT YELLING! is Bristol’s newest and best above-a-pub punk rock party night. A not-for-profit DIY disco p*ss-up at Bristol’s oldest inn. OF COURSE we’re going to be there. Playing alongside us will be our great mates, the fantastic  the fantastic the fantastic Falling Stacks, while DJs spinning Dischord, SST, Matador, Rough Trade, Sub Pop et al will see us through to the early hours. I can’t begin to tell you what a great time this is going to be. Admission is a recession rubbishing £3.

Spring Tour

Hi everyone, we’ve got some brand new friends we’d like you to meet and a big box of tapes to get rid of, so we’re coming round your place to show off both. Well we are if you live in Exeter, Oxford, London or Bristol. People living elsewhere send us an email and we’ll sort something out…

THE GREAT OUT-TOURS (OXFORD)

People of Britain. Lock up your Little Chefs and batten down your bitter pumps, the Winter Olympics touring party is coming to a town near you.

That’s right, in support of our exciting new record, ‘The Great Outdoors’ (have you bought it yet? It’s on iTunes, Amazon and eMusic) your Winter Olympics are embarking on a string of very special straight-after-work-on-a-Friday-night getting-on-a-bus-and-going-somewhere-noone-knows-your-name rock shows.

The first show of the ‘Great Out-Tours’ series is on Friday 13th of AUGUST (that’s next Friday) in historic Oxford, home of Morse and Swervedriver.

 Tours!

If you would like The Winter Olympics to come to your town too drop us a line at thewinterolympicsband@googlemail.com. We’ll play pretty much anywhere, but remember, it’s got to be a Friday night and it’s got to be straight after work.
Here are the details for the Oxford gig:

The Winter Olympics are on at about eight thirty. We’ll be playing with The Dead Jerichos and are hoping to hook up with our great rock mates Alphabet Backwards (who were amazing at the Great Indoors festival last weekend). You should come too.

For those of you from London who want to come along (and you should, it’s going to be amazing) The Winter Olympics’ Mr Ten Percent Jimmy Ketchup is planning a coach trip on ‘The Oxford Tube’. It’s dirt-cheap, runs all night, and coming back from a rock show on it makes you feel a bit like you’re in Def Leppard. Email James at jimmyketchup@gmail.com and he’ll give you details. He’s very friendly and there should be a good few of us going…

See you there then.
