THE GREAT INDOORS II: 13/08/11
THE GREAT INDOORS II – Saturday August 13th 2011
The Winter Olympics are thrilled to announce that they’ll be returning to their spiritual home, The Brixton Windmill, for The Great Indoors II; an all-day extravaganza celebrating the band’s favourite artists and best friends.
Now in its second year, The Great Indoors aims to recreate all the fun of a festival in the comfort of your favourite pub, and features a dizzyingly diverse line-up of live music from 2pm onwards, a senses-shattering all-day micro-rave in the back room, a belly-busting FREE barbecue, and superstar DJs in the main room spinning properly good records into the early hours.
Headlining the main stage this year will be Lancaster’s loveliest indie-punk husband and wife duo The Lovely Eggs, fresh from the cracking success of their Cherryade album ‘Cob Dominos’ and single ‘Fuck It’.

The first nine names for this year’s Great Indoors are as follows:
THE LOVELY EGGS

The Lovely Eggs make a magical racket. Funny, sad, silly and brilliant:
“It’s impossible not to let it overpower you, scribble rude words on your face in permanent marker and leave you grinning like a twat” - Drowned in Sound. http://www.myspace.com/thelovelyeggs
THE WINTER OLYMPICS

Your humble hosts The Winter Olympics are a dance-punk indie rock and roll band. They are big in Slovakia. They are not like the other bands.
“The Winter Olympics band will make you want to jump up and down” - The People http://www.thewinterolympicsband.com
B.B. MANIK

Young North London rapper BB Manik has already destroyed Bestival and Glastonbury twice. A former member of Tomb Crew, he recently released his critically acclaimed, self-produced debut album and is on course to becoming one of the UK’s biggest young MCs.
“The tightest MC on the scene”- We’re Not Famous http://www.bbmanik.com
THE CUT-UPS

A heroically DIY punk-rock band from Exeter, the Cut-Ups’ sound has the honesty and integrity of Dischord Recordings, and the transit-van toughness of old-school UK pop-punks Snuff and Leatherface. They are very, very good guys indeed.
“The DIY punk scene is awash with good intentions: this is the greatest advert for it for some time” - Kerrang! http://www.myspace.com/thecutupsfromexeter
DELTA/ALASKA
Teenage math rock sensations from London. “In Delta/Alaska’s gorgeous and intricate fuzzy indie-math-pop there’s something to discover that you won’t have considered before” - Keep/Pop/Loud http://deltaalaska.bandcamp.com
WORLD OF FOX
Fresh from a pitch-perfect performance at IndieTracks festival, acoustic singer-songwriter Simon Fox presents his breathtaking brand of elegiac wild West Midlands folk-rock. http://www.worldoffox.com
FALLING STACKS
Falling Stacks are formed from the ruins of cult favourites Quint’s Tale. They are the Bristol Shellac. With a trumpet. http://twitter.com/fallingstacks
CHALET
Windmill debut for this big-hearted, strangely-familiar-looking, Teenage Fanclub-channelling four-piece.
RAZMO
Anglo-Canadian improvisational “megasonic” rock band Razmo boast at least three drummers but just the one one song. You have been warned. http://www.razmo.co.uk
THE DANCE ARENA
The Windmill’s back room plays host to a hands-in-the-air all-day micro rave with DJs and PAs from the stars of Nottingham’s Winding Road Records and The Winter Olympics’ Disco Arm. Our full dance line up to be announced shortly.
Main stage DJs include Ben Swans and Sexy River from Bristol’s ‘I’m Not Yelling’ club night, and North London’s ANIMAL Disco DJs playing a specially commissioned ‘Outdoors’ set.
VERY SPECIAL GUESTS, more bands and a full DJ line up will be confirmed soon.
